Kit List

Please note that the kit list for the ‘luxury TMB’ varies slightly from the ‘Fast & Light’ kit list.

Luxury TMB & Half TMB

  • Day sack (up to 35 litres)
  • Lightweight boots (well worn in!)
  • Socks
  • Walking trousers
  • Shorts
  • Change of underwear
  • Wicking T shirt
  • Wicking long sleeved base layer top – merino wool ones are good.
  • Warm top – fleece or ‘softshell’
  • Waterproof jacket with hood & waterproof trousers – essential at all times of year
  • A thin duvet jacket or a gilet is not essential but recommended.
  • Warm hat
  • Gloves
  • Sunhat
  • Sunscreen
  • Personal first aid kit (ie blister kit etc)
  • Personal wash kit
  • Camera (battery charger etc)
  • 1 litre water bottle (minimum)
  • Any personal medication
  • Trekking poles
  • Spare food – In addition to the picnic lunch you will receive each day, you should carry some emergency spare food, such as energy bars, nuts, dried fruit, chocolate etc.
  • Sleeping bag liner – for the night in the refuge
  • Small Towel – for the night in the refuge
  • Clothes for the Hotel/hut (to be transported for you) except on the one hut night. Please ensure that your spare clothing is in just one kit bag to be transported between accommodation.

Fast & Light

  • Day sack (up to 35litres)
  • Light weight boots/Trail shoes (acceptable if you are used to hill-walking in them)
  • Water bottle/Hydration system (minimum 1 litre)
  • Walking poles
  • Socks (proper walking/running socks)
  • Shorts
  • Walking trousers (wicking fabric, not cotton)
  • Light weight waterproof trousers
  • Short sleeve T shirts (wicking type, not cotton)
  • Long sleeved light wicking top
  • Long sleeved mid weight thermal top
  • Gilet/sleeveless jacket (useful but not essential)
  • Extra warm layer (particularly if you get cold easily)
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Sunhat
  • Warm hat
  • Light gloves
  • Spare underwear
  • Sunglasses
  • Spare personal snacks
  • SMALL personal first aid kit (ie personal medication, blister plasters etc)
  • SMALL wash kit (eg sachets of shampoo, tiny toothpaste etc)
  • Lightweight, small, quick-drying towel
  • Sleeping bag sheet liner
  • Earplugs!

  • A light change of clothes for the huts if wanted.  A bag with change of clothes etc will be taken through to Champex and Le Buet by transport. Nights 1 to 3 we need to take all that we’ll need with us.
